Rebuilding Rio Grande do Sul (RS)
IBREI now joins the Rio Grande do Sul Reconstruction Council.

The Brazilian Institute of International Business Relations (IBREI) has been invited to join the Rio Grande do Sul Reconstruction Council, an initiative linked to the state government. The council is composed of 170 members and organizes its work through 13 thematic chambers, responsible for analyzing and proposing solutions for various sectors.
The demands presented to the council are forwarded to the executive secretariat and then discussed within the Management Committee. This committee is tasked with incorporating the proposals into the state's reconstruction plan, ensuring that the actions are implemented by the relevant secretariats.
Representing IBREI at the meeting were Maurício Prazak, the institute's president; Lino Fernandes, CEO and board member; and Karen Schneider, president of the tourism thematic nucleus.
Karen Schneider emphasized the importance of the council in coordinating efforts to address the climatic and economic challenges the state faces in 2024.
Among the measures being adopted by the RS government to mitigate the impacts of this year's climatic challenges are:
1. Changes to the ITCD (Inheritance and Donation Tax) to facilitate the transfer of assets and minimize the tax burden.
2. Expansion of the FUNDOPEM/RS incentive for new projects, encouraging the development of new businesses in the state.
3. Expansion of the FUNDOPEM/RS incentive for ongoing projects, providing continuous support to initiatives already in progress.
4. Presumed credit for the acquisition of machinery and equipment, incentivizing modernization and increased productivity.
5. Exemption for vehicle purchases by rental companies, facilitating fleet renewal and the circulation of goods and services.
6. Flexibilization of the Installment Program, offering more favorable conditions for companies to regularize their tax debts.
7. Reduction of the appropriation period for Permanent Asset credits, improving companies' cash flow.
8. Tax transaction, allowing more flexible agreements between the government and taxpayers for the settlement of tax debts.
These measures aim not only at the reconstruction of affected areas but also at strengthening the regional economy, ensuring a more favorable environment for recovery and economic growth.

IBREI congratulates the government of Rio Grande do Sul and all its members and employees for the tireless efforts they have demonstrated in contributing to the improvement of the lives of the population and businesses. We reaffirm our commitment to contributing in any way possible to this significant endeavor. Visit www.ibrei.org to learn more about the Institute.
