World in Focus – African Economic Regions: Exploring Opportunities and Challenges



On September 5, 2023, IBREI hosted an event of great relevance for understanding African economic dynamics, entitled “World in Focus – African Economic Regions.”


The meeting brought together experts and stakeholders interested in discussing the emerging opportunities and challenges across different regions of the African continent.

The event featured two prominent speakers in the context of Brazil–Africa relations:


Rui Mucaje – President of Afrochamber


Sérgio Rosset – IBREI’s Institutional Ambassador to Africa and Honorary Consul of Namibia


Discussing African Opportunities


During the event, Rui Mucaje, a renowned entrepreneur and President of Afrochamber, highlighted the numerous investment and trade opportunities offered by African economic regions. He emphasized the growing political and economic stability in many African countries, as well as the growth potential in sectors such as agriculture, renewable energy, technology, and mining.


Mucaje underscored the importance of establishing strategic partnerships between Brazil and African nations, noting that strong economic cooperation can generate mutual benefits for both sides.


Diplomatic and Institutional Perspectives


Sérgio Rosset, IBREI’s Institutional Ambassador to Africa and Honorary Consul of Namibia, addressed the diplomatic and institutional perspectives surrounding Brazil–Africa relations. He emphasized IBREI’s key role in fostering dialogue and cooperation between Brazil and African countries.


Rosset also discussed ongoing diplomatic initiatives aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and highlighted the importance of economic diplomacy in advancing shared interests.
