Brazilian economic growth is the theme of “Estúdio News.”

Experts discuss estimates for the post-crisis scenario caused by the new coronavirus pandemic.

The Brazilian economy has a chance to recover quickly, according to Minister Paulo Guedes. Estúdio News welcomed Mauro Rochlin, Jandaraci Araújo, and Arthur Martinho, who analyzed the current economic scenario.

According to Rochlin, a V-shaped recovery is quite likely, as the shutdown froze economic activity and left several sectors immobilized.

“If we have a recovery of around 3% to 3.5%, I believe the economy will show a V-shaped recovery, because it did not stop due to a lack of product supply or a drop in harvest, but rather due to an institutional decision—governments determined that there should be a shutdown.”

Entrepreneurship is still the best path, especially in the current scenario, even with the negative figures recently presented and rising unemployment, Jandaraci states.

“In São Paulo, in July, we had more than 15,000 companies opened, and although this is lower than in 2019, it shows that entrepreneurship is a positive prospect.”

Martinho believes that valuing the domestic market is important for recovery.

“People need to start valuing our national products, and they don’t have to look far. When we talk about a very strong market like China, for example, one of the first actions of the Chinese government was to value the domestic market.”
